If These Walls Could Talk
Hot House Residency @ Cardiff Made, August 2024
In the summer of 2024, I was invited to the studio space of Cardiff Made alongside three other emerging artists, to experiment, examine, push - pull and respond to the current methods of creating work. Over the month, strong connections were made through dialogue, witnessing one another’s creative process, evoking feelings of a small family unit, a togetherness which became slightly obscure and surreal.
Reflecting on the body as a house and the house as a body, ‘If These Walls Could Talk’ is a site-responsive performance that delves into memory, transformation, and vulnerability. It is a dance, a cross dialogue between the body’s evocation as a container of memory and a collision of frequencies distributed from a VHS player and a vintage TV set, transforming the room into an otherworldly landscape reminiscent of an unpleasant dream where images penetrate the body, revealing the unseen to the seen.
